Buffy: What is this?Willow: A doodle. I do doodle. You too. You do doodle, too.
This is a new category for my blog, brought to you by my brother's new used Epson scanner! (Not to mention the lovely tongue-twister from Buffy.) As anyone that has ever sat next to me in a meeting or in a class would know, I tend to doodle. I do doodle. It's true. Now I have access to a scanner I can share some of my doodles with you all, my audience out there in the dark, whoever you are.
I just started taking a class in a new master's program at DePaul. It's called New Media Studies, and I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with it, but it seems to be very flexible, and I think I'm going to get all that I want out of it (and possibly more). This past Tuesday was my second class and one thing we were discussing was semiotics and symbols. The professor passed out crayons and blank paper and asked us to draw a representation of quality time. This was a task I enjoyed. I do doodle, as I said. So this wasn't a huge stretch. I just didn't include people because I don't do people very well. Anyhow, I thought this would be my first doodle I'd share. It's in color, which is nice, as my doodles are usually monochromatic. (I don't tend to bring crayons with me to meetings. It's probably bad enough that I'm doodling.) The little dog is my representation of Ivy, the beloved dog in my family.
